Electrical Wiring Interconnection System (EWIS)

An acronym used to describe the wiring system on an aircraft. EWIS training is mandatory for mechanics and technical management to ensure that particularly during zonal inspections, proper care is taken to inspect the wiring as a whole – including claps, braces, nicks on wires etc. – rather than focusing only on a single wire or set thereof.
