Regulatory Authority

Regulatory Authority

Each country will have an Authority to regulate Aviation in accordance with the Law of that country and the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).

The Regulatory Authority is responsible for the approval of all aspects of Aviation including Design, Manufacture, Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul of Aircraft, Components, Engines, APU’s and Landing Gear’s.

Different approvals are given for

- Design
- Manufacture
- Repair and Overhaul of Aircraft
- Repair and Overhaul of Components, Engines, APU’s and Landing Gear

These approvals will include the scope of that approval, for example for Aircraft: Line Maintenance, Check Maintenance and Aircraft Type.

MRO Companies may also seek and gain approval from Authorities other than that of their Country, for example the FAA and EASA

These approved organisations will have an approval reference that will be found on the approved documentation they issue, such as

Authorised Release Certificate
Aircraft Technical Log
Certificate of Release to Service
