Aircraft Technical Log

Aircraft Technical Log

The Aircraft Technical Log records details of the Aircraft sectors flown, defects, maintenance action to rectify defects including Component changes, maintenance and inspections including certification and the Certificate of Release to Service (CRS).

Actual Flight Hours and cycles may not be recorded in the Technical log but on a computerised system.

The latest Aircraft such as the Boeing 787 use an Electronic Aircraft Technical Log but earlier Aircraft will use a hard copy document.

Cabin Defects and Component Changes may be recorded in a separate log called a Cabin Log.

This document may be referred to as the Dirty Finger Print (DFP) as it has the certification for any maintenance action carried out whilst the Aircraft is operating.

Certification for an Aircraft Check will usually be a separate Certificate of Release to Service (CRS) with maintenance action being recorded on work cards.
